Southern end of Caillavet to close for 30 days

Contractors with Yates Construction Co. have announced that the southern end of Caillavet Street, from Howard Avenue to U.S. 90, will be closed for 30 days beginning Thursday, but the city has mandated that businesses in that two-block stretch be accessible.

The closure is to allow the installation of water, sewer and drainage lines to serve the new MGM Park at Beau Rivage.

The closure will begin at 9 a.m. on Thursday.

Motorists are advised to use an alternate route, such as Reynoir Street, if possible.
