Gilich, Holloway to headline free K10 program Sunday

The Ohr-O’Keefe’s “Katrina +10” exhibition will offer a free, bonus double feature this Sunday, Aug. 2, at 2 p.m, starring Mayor Andrew “FoFo” Gilich and former Mayor A.J. Holloway.

The presentation will feature two 12-minute programs, “The Centennial of the Croatian-American Cultural Society” and “The Greatest Speech Ever Given by A.J. Holloway.” Gilich and Holloway also will be available to sign copies of “Katrina +10: The commemorative photo album and DVD,” which includes both of the Sunday videos as bonus features.

The “Centennial of the Croatian American Cultural Society” was created by Gilich in 2013 to mark the centennial of the Slavonian Lodge. The production uses historic Biloxi photographs to tell the story of east Biloxi and the influence Croatian-Americans have had on all facets of Biloxi life. The “greatest speech ever given by A.J. Holloway” is a 12-mintue presentation Holloway made to the U.S. Conference of Mayors, at the group’s Washington, D.C. convention in January 2006, a mere six months after Katrina. Holloway spoke to mayors across the country about “how to create a city.”

The Sunday afternoon program is free, but visitors can purchase the “Katrina +10” book and DVD for $20 and have it signed by Gilich and Holloway.
