RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING EXPENDITURES TO ST. PAUL UNITED METHODIST CHURCH IN THE TOTAL AMOUNT OF $50.00 FOR ADVERTISEMENT IN THE SOUVENIR PROGRAM

WHEREAS, St. Paul United Methodist Church is selling advertisements for their Church Anniversary Souvenir Program for their 147 years of worship; and

WHEREAS, the City of Biloxi will be recognized in their program and the favorable publicity generated by this advertisement will enhance the good name and good will of the City of Biloxi; and

WHEREAS, by the provisions of Mississippi Code Sections 17‑3‑1 and 17‑3‑3, the City of Biloxi is empowered to authorize expenditures for the purpose of advertising the moral, financial or other interest of the City of Biloxi to give favorable notice to the opportunities, possibilities and resources of the City; and

WHEREAS, the use of the money appropriated herein is restricted in that it must be spent in a manner exclusively for promotion of the City of Biloxi, and said money shall not be used for general operating expenses of St. Paul United Methodist Church, and will not be commingled with their general operating account; and

WHEREAS, funds are available in the Fiscal Year 2009-2010, Executive Budget, line item #01212-6472 in the total amount of $50.00 for advertisement in the Church Anniversary Souvenir Program;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BILOXI, MISSISSIPPI, THAT:

SECTION ONE:  The findings, conclusions, and statements of fact contained in the foregoing preamble are hereby adopted, ratified, and incorporated herein.

SECTION TWO:  The Mayor and/or Municipal Clerk be and is hereby authorized to issue a check in the total amount of $50.00 to St. Paul United Methodist Church for advertisements in their Church Anniversary Souvenir Program.

SECTION THREE:  Funds are available in the Fiscal Year 2009-2010, Executive Budget, line item #01212-6472 in the total amount of $50.00.
