Biloxi First group to roast ‘Shorty’ Sneed

Well-known Coast insurance executive and longtime community theater actor John B. “Shorty” Sneed will be the roastee for the 13th annual Biloxi First Roast, which will take place Thursday, Oct. 8, at the IP Casino Resort Spa.

The event is the major annual fundraiser for Biloxi First, a non-profit organization that has provided more than a quarter-million dollars in funding for innovative classroom projects in Biloxi Public Schools.

Roasters for the affair will be Joe Gazzo, Tim Holleman, Doug Medley, John Rester and Connie Rockco. Reed Guice will serve as emcee.

Tickets are $50 for an individual tickets; $250 for a patrons sponsor, which admits two; or a $1,000 reserved corporate table for 10.  To reserve your tickets,  contact Ann Dennison at 228-860-8871 or ann.denison@biloxischools.net.

Fire Department on the  job

Members of the Biloxi Fire Deparmtment responded to a house fire in west Biloxi on Monday night and to an automobile accident on Howard Avenue before noon today in which firefighters used the Jaws of Life to extricate a driver from his vehicle.
