Town Green turns red (and wet) this weekend

A collection of antique and present-day fire trucks, and fun and games for children and adults will be taking over the Biloxi Town Green this Memorial Day weekend.

The Biloxi Fire Department and the West End Hose Co. No. 3 Fire Museum will host the annual Jump into Summer Festival Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The two-day festival will include a collection of antique and present day fire trucks as well as a kid’s firefighter challenge obstacle course, smoke house simulator, fire truck demonstrations, MDOT seat belt and vehicle roll over safety demonstrations, water slides, bounce houses, face painting, balloon art, carnival rides, pony rides, vendors and more.

“This is a family friendly event geared towards small children but with plenty of food and fun for the whole family,” Biloxi Fire Chief Joe Boney said.  “This is also a fundraiser for the fire museum, which will be selling hot dogs, hamburgers, fish plates, shrimp po-boys and drinks.”

There will be a $3 gate fee, which allows all-day access to the waterslides and bounce house. Carnival ride tickets will be available for purchase during the event.

Said Boney: “This is a fun outside event full of family activities that, above all, promotes fire safety.”
