The Southern Miss Golden Eagles, who topped Charlotte with a dramatic two-run ninth-inning homer this afternoon, will face Charlotte in a rematch this evening at 7:30, with the victor facing Rice Sunday afternoon in the Conference USA championship.
Game time this evening at MGM Park is pushed back from its original 6:30 start to 7:30, league officials announced. The hour-long breather for both teams will give fans a chance to be part of the daylong tailgate party that will run until game time at the south entrance of MGM Park.
The Golden Eagles win this afternoon came after the team had trailed throughout the game, until Taylor Braley slapped a two-run, walk-off homer in the bottom of the ninth inning.
The victor of the rematch will face Rice in the tournament championship on Sunday at 1 p.m. at MGM Park. The CBS Sports Network will beam the game to a nationwide audience.
