Seafood Museum to unveil new exhibit

The “Rod Hedgecock, Rustic Old to Rustic New” exhibition opening reception will take place at the Maritime and Seafood Industry Museum, 115 1st Street, on Thursday, May 10, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. There will be no cost for admission, and visitors will have a chance to meet the artist and sample refreshments and hors d’oeuvres.

Hedgecock turns ordinary, salvaged materials into works of art. The artist says his unique twist on the standard canvas is his way of supporting the environment while simultaneously proving that anything can be made beautiful again.

The exhibit will be on the third floor of the Maritime and Seafood Industry Museum from May 10 to Aug. 5. Regular visiting hours are 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday.
