Get your motor revvin’, but not too much, police say.
Hundreds of low-ridin’, frame-draggin’ and customized cars and trucks are expected on Biloxi roadways this weekend for the 15th annual “Scrapin’ the Coast,” a show that promoters are billing as “the biggest one yet, guaranteed.”
The Coast Coliseum and the Gulfport Dragway throughout the weekend will be the scene of burnout and bikini contests, hydraulic, airbag, and stereo competitions, vendors, live bands and a performance by Juvenile. Hours at the Coliseum are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday; admission is $15.
Police says it’s all good, as long as the motoring remains legal.
“We do except heavy vehicle and pedestrian traffic this weekend, especially around the Coliseum,” says Biloxi Police Maj. Jim Adamo. “The biggest advice for people is to be patient, courteous and cautious.
“Motorists are reminded that roadway burning out, racing, discharging open flame exhaust, displaying colored lighting on vehicles while in motion, using high power lighting mounted on the vehicles while in motion, driving motorcycles between vehicles and unreasonably loud or harsh horns or whistles are prohibited.”
Elsewhere this weekend: Charlie Wilson performs at the Beau Rivage, Vince Neil of Motley Crue is at the Hard Rock, and an Asian Show will be at the Golden Nugget.

Shuckers and Braves: Let’s play two!
Rain is temporary. Diamonds are forever. It’s time to play ball again.
The Biloxi Shuckers and the Mississippi Braves will play a doubleheader tonight at MGM Park, and you can bank on it.
The series opener between the Shuckers and the Braves, pushed back by Tropical Storm Cindy, begins at 5:35 p.m. with the gates opening at 5 p.m. The twin bill will feature two seven-inning games, about 30 minutes apart.
Any fan with a ticket to Thursday’s game may exchange it for a ticket of equal value, based on seating availability, for any future 2017 regular season, non-restricted home game. Exchanges are accepted at the MGM Park Box Office.
Tonight’s specials include a Mascot Bank, featuring Schooner the Seagull to the first 1,500 fans through the gates, $2 Yuengling Drafts at two locations inside MGM Park, $2 Fountain Soft Drinks and $3 weekly Draft Beer Specials on Friday.
Also, the Shuckers will be teaming up with The ALS Association Louisiana-Mississippi Chapter to raise awareness and research funding to “Strike Out” Lou Gehrig’s Disease.
