Saints return to Biloxi for a third year

The Saints Hall of Fame event returns to Biloxi Friday, June 15 with a golf tournament, a kids and parents experience, and a Saints Day with the Biloxi Shuckers.

“This year’s Saints Day offers a wide range of events for the whole family,” Mayor Andrew “FoFo” Gilich said. “This event continues to highlight a growing relationship between Biloxi and the New Orleans Saints and Saints Hall of Fame.”

Activities include a sold out Scramble Golf Tournament at Fallen Oak Golf Club at 11 a.m., a free special Kids and Parents Football Safety Clinic from 3 to 5 p.m. at MGM Park and a Saints Day with the Shuckers promotion where the Biloxi Shuckers will host Saints Hall of Famers and current Saints players at their 6:35 p.m. game against the Mississippi Braves.

Holloway: The funeral procession of former Mayor A.J. Holloway will begin around 1:15 p.m. on Friday and travel along Lameuse Street passing in front of Biloxi City Hall and along U.S. 90 passing in front of the Biloxi Visitors Center. Said former Mississippi governor Haley Barbour: “A.J. Holloway was a great mayor and a fine man. His star shone as Biloxi and the Coast battled back after Katrina. The results showed his leadership.”

Scouts fundraiser: Boy Scout Troop 211 will hold a fundraiser on Friday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. with $8 fish plates at the Old Biloxi Fillin’ Station, 692 Howard Ave. The funds raised will help to replace a trailer and camping gear that was stolen from the troop earlier this year.

Fire Academy:  More than 50 youngsters will graduate from the 2018 Beginners Fire Academy for Kids on Friday morning with a ceremony beginning at 11 at the Lopez-Quave Public Safety Center on Porter Avenue. The Biloxi Fire Department is thankful for the following agencies for their demonstrations and donations: Mississippi Department of Transportation, Department of Marine Resources, American Medical Response, Mississippi State Fire Marshals, Blossman Gas, Biloxi Police Department, Nativity BVM School, IP Casino, Golden Nugget Casino, Treasure Bay Casino, Palace Casino, Hard Rock Casino, Beau Rivage Casino, Silver Slipper Casino, Pitcher Point Investments, Sean Shoemake with US Select Insurance, Kevin Murray with ServPro, Vernon Smith, Smoothie King, and the West End Hose Co. #3.

Beer fest:  The second annual Biloxi Chamber Craft Beer Fest will take place Saturday from 4 to 7 p.m. at MGM Park.  Attendees must be 21 or older.  Admission: pre-sale admission, $25; gate admission, $35.  To see the flyer, click here
