Biloxi’s role in the Great American Clean Up is picking up steam as the movement heads into its home stretch on Saturday.
“We just had two more groups sign up this afternoon,” said Downtown Service Manager Kay Miller. “Today staff from Back Bay Mission helped clean up Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and the Biloxi Housing Authority staff helped clean Benachi Avenue.”
Nearly a dozen organizations have already signed up to participate in the Great American Clean Up Biloxi campaign, an annual effort where individuals, families, businesses, organizations, and church and civic groups are asked to set aside time this week to pick up litter and spruce up the community.
The official designation ends Saturday with an organized cleanup for individuals and groups. Those interested can pick up free trash bags and gloves from 8 a.m. to noon at the Point Cadet Plaza, 121 Cadet St.
Trash bags and gloves are also available through Friday at 5 p.m. at the Bond Grant House on Howard Avenue.
