Life size dinosaurs in town this weekend

Thought dinosaurs were extinct? Well, not this weekend!

The reptilian creatures will be coming out of extinction and taking over the Mississippi Coast Coliseum and Convention Center for the life size exhibition, Jurassic Quest.

The largest North American exhibition of moving, museum quality dinosaurs will begin today at from 3 to 8 p.m. and runs Saturday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

On display will be over 80 animatronic dinosaurs including a giant T-rex, a 40 foot Apatosaurus and a 60 foot Spinosaurus.  Activities include a guided tour with explanations of different dinosaurs, their environments, and time periods, as well as kid activities like dino crafts, inflatables, a fossil dig, face painting and more.

Visitors will also be able to interact with playful baby dinosaurs and get to pet several adolescent dinos that will be either wandering around the exhibit or walking around in a large pen.

Tickets are available at the exhibit entrance or online at jurassicquest.com and range from $16 to $29 per person.  Police, military and senior discounts will be available and children under the age of two get in free.

Elsewhere this weekend: The Biloxi Shuckers will wrap up their homestead with the Pensacola Blue Wahoos at MGM Park, Vicki Lawrence & Mama: A Two-Woman Show will be at the IP, Volbeat at the Hard Rock, and Bret Michaels at the Beau Rivage.
