Demolition of old federal courthouse to begin

Community Bank plans to conduct a demolition ceremony Tuesday at 9 a.m. to signal the demolition of a long-vacant downtown structure, the old federal courthouse, which is on MLK Boulevard between Lameuse and Main streets.

A demolition permit, valued at $65,000, was issued recently to DCD Construction, to demolish the old courthouse. DCD, an Ocean Springs firm, expects to have the site cleared in about 45 days later, weather permitting.

The site was recently purchased by Community Bank, which has engaged the architectural firm Dale Partners to design its new Biloxi office for the site.
