City water bills still playing catch up

Those Biloxi water customers who would have received their monthly bill on Aug. 30, with a due date of Sept. 15, will be receiving those bills late, with a due date of Sept. 25.

Bank draft customers will be drafted on the 25th, not the 15th.

The late bills, which are going to a third of the city’s water customers, were caused by a staffing change at the company that mails the monthly city water bills.

Biloxi bills its 14,000 customers in three cycles. The staffing changed caused a previous billing cycle to be several days late, which also pushed back the current cycle.

If the next cycle is also late, the due date will be pushed back accordingly.

Said Dianne Merrill of the city water department: “The local company that mails our bills is working to get the billing cycles back on track. We apologize for any inconvenience, and, rest assured, anytime we’re responsible for the bill going out late, the due date is adjusted accordingly.”
