The Community Development Department issued 47 permits with a total valuation of over $2 million last week including a permit for the new La Quinta Inn & Suites. The proposed four story hotel, to be located at the corner of Hopkins and Beach Boulevards, is to have 67 suites. Construction is scheduled to begin in mid-January.
Meantime, calls in the Biloxi Police Department increased with a reported 2,371 calls for service, generating 156 arrests, and the Biloxi Fire Department reported a small decrease with 134 calls for service, including 99 for medical and three for structure and vehicle fires.
