Water main repairs on tap at Pass and Popp’s Ferry

Biloxi Public Works crews on Wednesday morning will begin making repairs to a broken water main on Pass Road, just east of Popp’s Ferry Road.

Public Works Director Richard Sullivan said the roadway will remain open to traffic, with eastbound motorists shifted to the center lanes. No interruptions in water service are expected.

“It’s right there in front of Yuki’s Restaurant,” Sullivan said. “We’ll begin work at 8 o’clock and it should take us several hours to make the repairs. No businesses will be closing because of this work, and we won’t have to detour traffic.

“We’re just asking motorists to use extra caution since we’re working in the area and it’s usually a busy area.”

Sullivan said one of two mains — either an 8-inch or 16-inch line — is broken.

“We’ll know more once we get in there,” he said, “the biggest thing is getting through the asphalt. It’s as thick as 18 inches in some areas of Pass Road.”
