The Biloxi Visitors Center, 1050 Beach Blvd., will host a trio of public events in October: two books signings and the 2nd Annual Lighthouse Arts and Crafts Fair.
Book signing, Oct. 2, 5:30‐7 p.m.: “Code: Team Zebra” is about a small Top Secret organization funded by Congress under a fictitious research titled Project 7. Only one senator is aware of its existence and purpose: To subvert and destroy international drug cartels and their American judicial allies degrading American lives. The story focuses on the assassinations of an informant, his Zebra contact, the senator’s son, and witnesses.
Coast native Dale Greenwell served six years with the U.S. Army Security Agency, with special assignments with U.S. embassies in Iran and Vietnam). He is the author of numerous fiction and nonfiction books as well as a journalist, and newspaper columnist.
Lighthouse Arts and Crafts Fair, Oct. 11, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.: On Saturday, October 11, the Biloxi Visitors Center will host the Second Annual Lighthouse Arts and Crafts Fair from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event will feature the creations of over 30 local artists and craftsmen with everything from jewelry to one of a kind wood sculptures by Marlin Miller. In addition to supporting local artists, visitors will also be given the opportunity to climb the Biloxi Lighthouse during one of the tours offered every 30 minutes throughout the event. Lighthouse tours are $5 for adults and $2 for children 12 and under.
According to Bill Raymond, Biloxi Historical Administrator and Visitors Center Manager, “The fair gives the center an opportunity to show off the Biloxi Lighthouse, the City’s most beloved landmark, and at the same time we can showcase local artists who have helped support the visitors center gift shop.”
Admission to the event is free and refreshments will be available for purchase. Visitors are encouraged to bring their lawn chairs and watch the cruisers while enjoying the gulf breeze.
Book signing, Oct. 23, 5:30 to 7 p.m.: In “Moonshine Adventure,” author Al Saucier, whose ancestors were among the first European settlers in the area known today as Bay St. Louis, has encapsulated more than three centuries of folklore and the traditions that led to the establishment of what he describes as The Southern Culture.
This work has entailed a considerable amount of research and a profound grasp of the meaning and intent of those ideals which have, especially since the War Between the States, been recognized as elements of The Southern Culture. Additionally, he indicates in this scholarly manuscript the manner in which Moonshine Whiskey was introduced, not only in the United States, but internationally.
This promises to be a lively evening of storytelling and famous name dropping such as Joe Kennedy and Al Capone.
