Schools open this week for registration assistance

Nearly 3,000 students have been registered through the convenient online school registration Biloxi Public Schools is offering this year, and this week there’s the issue of proof of residency.

All Biloxi public schools are open each weekday this week, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., so parents can drop by to show two proofs of residency. You’ll need a utility bill that’s no more than 30 days old as one item. You’ll also need a picture ID of the registering parent, guardianship documents, and, for new students: a certified copy of the birth certificate, and Mississippi Form 121 immunization certification for the new student.

Online registration began July 13 and runs through Friday. For those who don’t have a computer, computers and helpful staff will be on hand each day this week at individual schools, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. to assist parents.

The school district weeks ago mailed 5,200 letters contianing Snap Codes to enable parents to register their children online. Using the Snap Codes, parents can use an easy-to-follow online registration process from the convenience of their home, avoiding the typically slow-moving registration process.
