SunSetBoulevardAndrew Lloyd Webber’s Broadway production of “Sunset Boulevard” is coming to the Saenger Theater this week, with an all-star local cast.

The show opens with a VIP, red-carpet benefit for the Saenger on Thursday evening, with follow-up performances on Friday and Saturday evenings and a Sunday afternoon matinee. Tickets for Thursday’s event begin at $50 ($75 for a couple), with packages up to $100 per ticket with a chance to meet the cast backstage. General admission seats for regular performances are $23, with $18 tickets for seniors, students, military and groups of 10 or more. To order tickets, call 228.297.9975.

Sunset Boulevard is an Andrew Lloyd Webber classic based on the Academy Award-winning 1950 film that starred William Holden, Gloria Swanson and Erich von Stroheim.

In the Saenger production, Broadway South Repertory will take audience members on an incredible journey back to the beautiful, but decaying mansion of Norma Desmond – a faded star of the silent film era.

The story follows Joe Gillis – a young, down-on-his-luck screenwriter looking for his big break. Joe becomes engulfed in life with Norma and her plans for a comeback, and he begins work at once editing her script. Romance and tragedy follow the story of Joe and Norma, along with their friends and acquaintances.

The cast features Coast theater notables Terese Garguilo Evans, Cliff Thompson, Dean Bellais, Jacqueline Coale, Sean Maurer and David Delk.
