Arbor Day Festival and Run to be held at the Biloxi Town Green
The Arbor Day Festival and 21st Annual Arbor Day 5K and 1 mile health run/walk/roll will be held on Saturday, February 28 at the Biloxi Town Green, located across from the Hard Rock Casino.
Festivities begin with the 5K run at 9 a.m. and the 1 mile health run/walk/roll at 9:45 a.m. Participants in the event will receive a t-shirt and a tree in honor of Arbor Day. Trophies will be given out to overall male and female as well as to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place age group males and females. All wheelchair participants will receive a trophy.
The Arbor Day Festival will be from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. with free admission. The staging area will host continuous entertainment including Inspirational Music by Janice Green at 9:30, Boys & Girls Club Drum Line at 10:30, and a free five hour outdoor concert beginning at 11 with performances by Grocery Feet and The Dig.
Additional festivities include a Biloxi High Jazz Band performance at 3, “Cooking with Hurley Ray & Chuck (TV 7), a silent auction, an all day raffle with over $1000 in prizes under the Expo tent, a Children’s Activity Area hosted by Lynn Meadow Discovery Center, a space walk, face painting, a drum circle and other games and prizes for children.
The Arbor Day Festival and 21st Annual Arbor Day 5K and 1 mile health run/walk/roll is sponsored by the City of Biloxi, Harrison County Board of Supervisors, the Gulf Coast Running Club and many local businesses. Proceeds will benefit the development of Disability Connection, a resources directory for people with disabilities.
