Paving well underway on Division, Lameuse

Paving on major thoroughfares in east Biloxi continues to make progress.

Warren Paving Co. had two lanes of asphalt on Division Street from Lee to Caillavet by midday today, and paving on Lameuse Street south of Division was expected to be complete by the end of the day.

The temporary paving is a continuation of the city’s work that began Friday with the paving of Main Street from Division to the CSX railway.

In the next few days work is expected to take place on Main, north of Division, on Porter Avenue, south of Division, and from Division to Forest Avenue. The work is expected to be completed well ahead of Good Friday.

City crews also are expected to begin adding striping to Division Street later this week.

“We’re going to continue to make as much of an impact as we can with this temporary paving,” said Mayor Andrew “FoFo” Gilich, who since being elected 10 months ago has pushed to see improvements made to the 55 miles of unpaved streets in east Biloxi. Asphalt was removed more than a year ago, as part of the $117 million project to replace or improve the infrastructure below the streets between I-110 and Point Cadet, north of the CSX railway.
