Last call for city’s summer camp

The City of Biloxi Parks and Recreation Department is allowing late registrants as well as non-Biloxi residents to sign up through Friday, May 8 for its Summer Playground and Enrichment Program.

Individuals may register children, ages 5-14, with and without disabilities, by visiting the Parks and Recreation office at the Hiller Park Armory, 377 Hiller Drive, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Throughout the eight to nine week program, children will have the opportunity to attend field trips along the Gulf Coast, participate in arts and crafts and organized games. Camp sites include North Woolmarket Elementary and Middle School gyms, Old Woolmarket, Popps Ferry Elementary, Jeff Davis Elementary, Lopez School as Sun Camp (physically and mentally challenged children) and Donal Snyder Community Center as Teen Camp (ages 12 to 14). The North Bay Elementary site is full. Each site is limited to 70 campers with the exception of Sun Camp, which is limited to 12 campers.

Camp begins June 1 and ends on July 24. It will run Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. with extended “Latch Key” care, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
