Economic development continues to improve in Biloxi. During January 2014, we issued building permits for 6 new single family houses.

Commercial building permits were issued for an addition and site improvements for Jeff Davis Elementary School, and the addition of a conference room to the South Beach Condotel on Beach Blvd. January also saw the completion of the New Hard Rock Hotel.

Construction and renovation continues on the Golden Nugget Casino, the White House Hotel and the Blue Crab Restaurant. Construction Plans have been submitted and are being reviewed for a number of improvements to the Grand Casino for the conversion to Harrah’s, the new Walmart Neighborhood Market on Pass Road, the new Handy Lock Storage on Popp’s Ferry Road, another new restaurant on the south side of Beach Blvd and a new Waffle House on Beach Blvd.

Site plans and conceptual elevations have also been submitted for the Old Federal Courthouse. This mixed use project is scheduled to go before the Development Review Committee on Wednesday.
