Jackson, Andersen bringing teammates to Biloxi

Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee Rickey Jackson and future NFL Hall of Famer Morten Andersen head a list of former and current New Orleans Saints stars who will be in Biloxi July 8-9 for the inaugural Saints Hall of Fame Weekend.

Jackson and Andersen are two of only four players (Archie Manning and Willie Roaf, the others) honored by the Saints in their Ring of Honor inside the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. Both of them enjoyed sterling 13-year careers with the Saints, each highlighted by numerous first team All-Pro selections and 6-time appearances in the Pro Bowl. They will be joined in Biloxi by an as-yet unannounced foursome of current Saints players and more than 20 former Saints players, including Saints Hall of Famers Bobby Hebert, Deuce McAllister, Dalton Hilliard, Vaughan Johnson, Jim Dombrowski, Tyrone Hughes, Joe Johnson, Michael Lewis, Derland Moore and Jim Wilks.

“These events provide an opportunity for the rabid Saints fans on the Mississippi Coast to get up close and personal with many of their heroes through the years, and also talk with current players about the upcoming season,” said F. Cliff Kirkland of the City of Biloxi, which is producing Saints Weekend.

The Saints Hall of Fame weekend begins with a golf tournament Friday, July 8 at Fallen Oak Golf Club, with only a handful of playing spots remaining. Four-man teams will be joined by respective Saints Hall of Famers, Saints alumni and current players. Entry fee is $1,000 per team and is tax-deductible. Interested participants should contact Main Street Biloxi at 228-435-6370.

On Saturday, July 9, the Saints Kids Experience training camp takes place in MGM Park from 10 am-1 pm, and the Saints Hall of Fame Road Show in the stadium beginning at 6 pm.

Fans attending the Road Show will be able to interact with the players, getting autographs and photos, and bidding on several unique silent auction items autographed by Saints head coach Sean Payton and quarterback Drew Brees. The Lombardi Trophy the Saints won in Super Bowl XLIV and other special mementos from the Saints Hall of Fame will be on display during the Road Show at MGM Park.

The camp is $10 per child, ages 6-15, and is limited to the first 500 at each of two sessions: 10 and 11:30. Adult tickets are $15. Tickets to the Road Show are $20 adults and $10 children. Tickets can be purchased at the MGM Park box office or through Ticketmaster, which charges additional fees.
