With funding provided from the Mississippi Development Authority and extensive input provided by the public, elected officials and staff, the city recently updated its Comprehensive Plan, which was adopted by the City Council in December 2009. This state-mandated document is designed to help guide long-term development and growth in Biloxi over the next 20 to 25 years.
The city then focused on updating its Land Development Ordinance as a tool to support and encourage development in order to achieve the goals and objectives for growth identified in the long-term plan. This involved revising procedures and standards to improve user friendliness, enhancing flexibility to protect and preserve local natural resources, and promoting responsible development to strengthen neighborhoods and support Biloxi’s quality of life.
The following are links to the Biloxi Land Development Ordinance, which went into effect November 9, 2010. The LDO has been divided into multiple documents to allow the user to easily find the information needed. The Official Zoning District Map, Height Map and Zoning District Translation Chart may be accessed by clicking on the appropriate link identified in bold text above.
The City’s objective in making the Land Development Ordinance and corresponding material available online is to provide citizens with 24/7 access to this information; however, if you can't find what you’re looking for or if you have a question, e-mail the Planning Division staff at planning@biloxi.ms.us or call (228) 435-6266.
