Grillin’, paradin’ and runnin’ of the Green in downtown Biloxi

The eight annual Grillin’ on the Green takes place Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the Biloxi Town Green, and midway through the outdoor extravaganza, at 2 p.m., the Hibernia Marching Society’s annual St. Patrick’s Parade will pass by, making its way through downtown Biloxi.

The parade begins at the Biloxi Yacht Club on U.S. 90, travels westward on U.S. 90, turning north at Lameuse Street, west on MLK Boulevard and ends at Reynoir Street. Reviewing stands are erected on Lameuse Street, across from City Hall, for paradegoers.

Grand Marshal this year is James W. “Jim” Hardaman, and Colleen is Janin Poem Love.

The Grillin’ on the Green affair will feature Rhythm & Rain at 10 a.m., The DD Thunders at noon, and Barbara and Co. after the parade has passed the Town Green.

The centerpiece, of course, is the competition among the dozens of backyard barbecuers. A host of arts and crafts booths also will be set up on the Town Green. Admission is free to Grillin’ on the Green.

Kicking off the St. Patrick’s affairs in Biloxi, by the way, is a 5K Irish Derby, which takes place through downtown Biloxi on Saturday morning beginning at 9.
