Gallery 782 celebrates 10 years this weekend

Gallery 782, a local cooperative art gallery (“co-art,” they call it), is celebrating a decade in the Biloxi Arts District, and the public is invited to attend a gala reception on Saturday.

The gathering will take place from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the gallery, now at 773 Jackson St., one block north of its original location. The event will include food, beverages, and drawings to win one-of-a-kind artwork.  Those attending will also be able to meet the artists whose artwork – including paintings, pottery, fused glass, ceramics, wood, fine art, photography, metal casting, stained glass, and jewelry – will  be available for purchase at the gallery.

Gallery 782 is a cooperative gallery and nonprofit organization with more than 36 juried artists, all from the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

Thursday became Ronny Broussard Day at City Hall

Community theater tour de force Ronny Broussard was at City Hall Thursday morning to discuss Biloxi Little Theater’s upcoming production of “Driving Miss Daisy,” but the City Desk visit was only the beginning. Broussard agreed to also speak to a group of visiting students, and a Facebook post of his rousing rendition of the “Star-Spangled Banner” for the students quickly attracted hundreds of views on Facebook. In fact, it’s past 1,300 now.
