March 14: Development report: White House Hotel update

By Jerry Creel, Community Development Director

This week in economic development, the contractor for the White House Hotel completed the exterior painting for the newly enclosed western portion of the structure. It is well worth a trip to the site to see the progress being made, and to see how everything is beginning to come together. The columns for the western portion of the hotel have been ordered and should arrive sometime in the next two weeks. The demolition project at the Grand Casino continues to make tremendous progress, portions of Deer Island are becoming visible again from Beach Boulevard.

This week, we received the building plans for the next phase of renovations for the Golden Nugget Casino, which includes a new spa area. We are completing the review of the plans for the new Parish Life Center for St.Michael’s Catholic Church, the second phase of the new Handy Lock Storage facility on Popp’s Ferry Road, and four sets of plans for new single-family homes. Today, site plans have been submitted to DRC for changes to the exterior at Treasure Bay Casino.
