Council meets three times today

The City Council this morning will discuss whether to allow Mississippi cottages to become a permanent part of the landscape in parts of Biloxi, and then meet again this afternoon for councilmembers’ final scheduled meeting of 2008.

Council members will hold a workshop this morning at 10 to discuss a Planning Commission recommendation to make cottages acceptable in certain areas of the city. At 11 a.m., council members will hold a special meeting to vote on the issue.

During their 1:30 meeting this afternoon, councilmembers will consider an agenda of 18 measures, including five zoning issues. Included on the agenda are first readings of a proposal by Mayor A.J. Holloway to enact new flood elevations, and proposals by Councilmember Mike Fitzpatrick to raise councilmembers’ salaries by as much as 12 percent over the next four years.

Each of the council meetings will be at City Hall and open to the public.
