Council approves short-term rental, tree committee

This week in community development, the city council approved an application for conditional use for Short Term Rental for property located at 121 Kuhn Street. At the meeting next week, the council will consider another application, from the same owner, for a zoning change and conditional use for property located on the same block. The city council also approved an ordinance establishing the Biloxi Tree Committee. The new ordinance creates the necessary balance between providing committee input, while respecting the rights of property owners to develop their economic development projects.

Also this week, the building department issued the certificate of occupancy for the Doubletree Hotel. 40 building permits were issued with a construction valuation of  $898,000, of which 3 were for new single family houses. 5 sets of residential building plans are currently under review. Building inspectors performed 81 inspections, and code enforcement opened 29 cases and resolved 63. Business licenses were issued for 1 new business, and 4 renewals.
