RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE BILOXI POLICE DEPARTMENT TO APPLY FOR GRANT MONIES FROM THE MS DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY, OFFICE OF HOMELAND SECURITY TO SUPPORT EQUIPMENT PURCHASES   

WHEREAS, the Biloxi Police Department is seeking approval to apply for grant monies in the amount of $555,500 from the MS Department of Public Safety, Office of Homeland Security, to purchase equipment not provided for in the 2011 budget year, and

            WHEREAS, the MS Department of Public Safety, Office of Homeland Security, will provide 100 percent funding for any approved equipment purchase during the 12 month grant period; and,

            WHEREAS, Director Miller has been advised of the grant funding request and supports efforts to acquire needed equipment.

            NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BILOXI, MISSISSIPPI, THAT:

            Section 1. The Mayor, Municipal Clerk and appropriate, designated staff are, hereby, authorized to execute the necessary documents witnessing the City’s acceptance of the grant terms and conditions.

            Section 2. The Mayor, Municipal Clerk and appropriate, designated staff, hereby, authorize the Biloxi Police Department to accept the grant funding as requested above.
