“It was a very uneventful event,” Biloxi Police Chief Linda Atterberry says of the city’s encounter with Tropical Storm Ida, which has now been downgraded to a tropical depression. Earlier today, the storm moved across an area east of Mobile with top winds of 35 mph.

However, the National Weather Service this morning has issued a Wind Advisory until noon for the Mississippi Coast, with wind gusts of up to 35 mph expected, diminishing in the afternoon.

“We have no reports of any major damage, save a tree limb down here or there, and there were no injuries,” Atterberry said.

The Keesler weather office recorded 3.44 inches of rain in the past 24 hours, with the highest wind gust at 51 mph.

The rainfall led to temporary closures of several low-lying streets -- Cedar Lake Road north and south of the Cedar Lake bridge, sections of Back Bay Boulevard, Lorraine Road and Cadet Street -- between 1 and 3 this morning.
