City seeks volunteer nominees

Mayor Andrew “FoFo” Gilich and the Biloxi City Council are inviting residents to help recognize outstanding volunteers at the 33rd Annual Volunteer Recognition Ceremony.

The ceremony will begin at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 28 at the Biloxi Civic Center, 578 Howard Ave.  Invitations will be sent to all nominators and nominees. Awards will be presented to individuals for outstanding volunteer of the year in these categories: health, community, arts and history, education, military, non-profit organization, youth, sports, and adult and youth volunteer groups, with an overall winner selected as Distinguished Volunteer of the Year. Awards will also be presented to organizations and businesses for their community service.

Nomination forms are available at the Downtown Services Office at 932 Howard Ave., or by clicking here. Forms must be completely filled out with a complete narrative and include a picture of the nominee volunteering. Incomplete nominations will not be considered. Forms must be returned to the Downtown Services office by Monday, April 11. Nominations will be reviewed and winners selected by a committee of Biloxi citizens. All nominees will be recognized with a certificate of achievement.
