City of Biloxi to offer special seating for Mardi Gras Parade

The City of Biloxi is celebrating its 24th year of hosting a special protected seating area, located on the east side of Lameuse Street, just north of U.S. 90 at Town Green, for the viewing of the Gulf Coast Carnival Association parade.

The special seating is available for disabled and elderly residents who are interested in watching the February 24 GCCA parade, scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. Seating is available on a first come, first serve basis and participants should be at the location no later than 11:30 a.m., which is when the police will close Lameuse Street to traffic. There will be chairs and bleachers for seating, but participants may bring lawn chairs. Please note that there is limited room for caregivers and immediate family members. Participants may also bring a lunch and picnic on the Town Green.

Reserved parking will only be available in the Town Green parking lot for agency vehicles, private vehicles and RVs who display a special parking pass. General parking will be available in surrounding parking lots. If you wish to drop off a disabled or elderly guest, volunteers will be on hand to seat them.

Those interested, should contact Parks and Recreation Assistant Director, Cheryl Bell at 435-6296 or email cbell@biloxi.ms.us.
