City of Biloxi opens registration for its Start Smart Program – March 2010

The City of Biloxi Parks and Recreation Department has opened registration for the first 20 participants for its Start Smart Basketball Program. Registration is Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Recreation Office, 380 Hiller Drive.

The Program is open to children ages 3 to 5 and their parents or a responsible adult. Sessions will begin on Thursday, March 4 and continue for five following Tuesdays, ending on Thursday, April 8. Each will be conducted from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Mercy Cross Recreation Center, located at 390 Crusader Street. Participation is free for City of Biloxi residents and $25 for non-Biloxi residents. Registration will continue weekdays until session is full.

The Start Smart Program is a program that helps to prepare children for organized sports using Koosh products. This program teaches children basic basketball skills such as dribbling, passing, catching and running which are needed to play the sport.
