Here’s the lineup for Christmas on the Water. Most events are free, but in some cases tickets are required. Contact information is included in the listing.


Friday, Dec. 3

5 to 7 p.m.: Joyeux Noel, Biloxi Library. Dozens of Christmas trees representing businesses, schools and civic groups will be unveiled throughout the library. To sponsor a tree: Mary Louise Atkinson, 374-0330

6 p.m.: Children’s parade, downtown Biloxi. This parade is complete with marching bands, cartoon characters and more. Parade begins on Howard Avenue at I-110, ends on the Town Green with lighting of the Green. To join parade: Sarah Rider, 432-1423.

7 p.m.: Lighting of the Town Green. Join the community in the opening of Biloxi’s Christmas Season of Lights. Join the festivities for hot chocolate, cookies and a visit with Santa.

Saturday, Dec. 4

10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Christmas Coffee. The Biloxi Council of Garden Clubs will hold its Christmas Coffee on Saturday, Dec. 4 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the home of Charles and Toni Schaffner, 517 Beach Drive, Ocean Springs. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased from any Garden Club member or at the Old Brick House, 435-6121.

5:45 p.m.: Christmas on the Water Boat Parade. The centerpiece of Biloxi’s Christmas on the Water celebration, the boat parade begins at the Broadwater Marina and makes it way east to Point Cadet, capped by a fireworks display from near Deer Island. Best viewing locations: along the beach east of the Biloxi Lighthouse, the Biloxi Small Craft Harbor, and along the beach between the harbor and Casino Row. Boat registration: Mary Cruthirds, 432-2563 or Rusty David, 865-8232.

8 p.m.: Handel’s "Messiah," Saneger Theater, downtown Biloxi. The Gulf Coast Messiah Chorus and Orchestra will perform this free Christmas classic. Guest performances will be presented by the Biloxi High School Chorus and classical guitarist Giovanni DeChairo. Details: 896-2931 or 875-2929.

Monday, Dec. 6

11 a.m. to 4 p.m.: “The Trees of Tullis,” opening reception, Tullis-Toledano Manor, Beach Boulevard, Biloxi. The various cultural groups of the city display Christmas trees in their own country’s traditional style. This free exhibition, sponsored by the Friends of Tullis, runs throughout December, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Details: 435-6293.

Sunday, Dec. 19

6 p.m.: “Caroling on the Green,” Town Green. Join your family and friends to sing Christmas carols near the shoo fly on the Town Green. Song sheets will be provided, along with cookies and hot chocolate. Bring a flashlight or candle. Details: 374-3105.
