The City of Biloxi has produced a DVD and companion photo album to commemorate the devastation of Hurricane Katrina and the community’s inspirational recovery efforts.
It's an award-winning documentary that tells the story of Biloxi’s encounter with Katrina through 50 minutes of vignettes from Biloxi residents, city leaders and weathercaster Jim Cantore; original scoring and the song “Heavens Cry” by songwriter Brad Jerkins of Dothan, Ala.; and storm footage from Biloxi City Hall, east Biloxi and the Mississippi Coast Coliseum.
The DVD also features bonus aerial photography, pre-Katrina photos, and an interview with Mayor A.J. Holloway filmed on the afternoon of Aug. 29, as storm winds began to subside outside City Hall. (Lean more about the DVD by clicking on links above.)
The 52-page photo album contains dozens of color photographs showing Biloxi points of interest and landmarks immediately before and after the storm, as well as photos into the recovery.
All proceeds from online sales benefit the city's Katrina recovery fund. You can also buy "Katrina & Biloxi" at public libraries throughout Harrison County, where a portion of the proceeds will go to the respective library.
